I’ve mentioned this in my book that if you’re ever running a company, surprises are just around the corner ready to leap out at you at any moment. Some are terrific and others are devastating to you and your company. Always be prepared and always be on the lookout for what may be hiding in the shadows. When I’m working as a CEO or COO, I’m continually thinking about risk and how to best “de-risk” a company.
Every year, we update our E@RTC car show entrance criteria for our all-summer-long weekly event. This is criteria update is to take into account new models or a shift in what shows up and what we think people want to see each Saturday. Sometimes we raise the bar on some models because of volume, and sometimes we have to limit what gets in because it’s boring, and no matter what, it leads to lots of debate and arguments from those outside the show who are not regulars.
